Yellow-Eyed Penguin
Classification
Yellow-eyed penguins also known as hoiho are species of penguins and are birds but cannot fly. They also have yellow eyes and are native to New Zealand.
Habitat
Yellow-eyed penguins live in the Southeast of South Island on the Banks Peninsula. Also on Stewart Island, Codfish Island, the Auckland Islands, and Campbell Island.
Diet
Yellow-Eyed Penguins eat red cod, small fish, sprat, Ahuru, blue cod, and opal fish.
Appearance
The yellow-eyed penguins are 65 cm tall and weigh 5 to 6 kg.Yellow-eyed penguins are tall and heavy penguins. They have yellow eyes and have stripes that wrap around them through the eyes and around their head.The sides of their heads are a light brown also the back and the tail are a slate blue.Their throat and chins are brownish-black.They have an orange beak, white front,flippers and some pinkish feet.
Reproduction
Mating takes place in mid September or October.They will have two greenish white eggs it is about 75x55 mm in size.
